Dear Marian Devotees,

I am extremely happy to write this introduction. As the Spiritual Director of Rani John I do know her and her family very closely for the past thirteen years. It was on February 22nd, 1997 that I first went to her house at Kanchikode, Palakkad, Kerala and witnessed many visible miraculous experiences. From then on I went there a number of times and I have witnessed together with others very many mystical experiences of Rani John, a visionary of Our Blessed Mother. I have observed and studied the happenings at Kanchikode for a definite period of time to make sure regarding the genuineness of the same.

Having fully convinced of the veracity of the experiences at Kanchikode, I accepted to be the Spiritual Director of Rani John when Our Blessed Mother gave clear indications to it through a message. Rani John received a miraculous Rosary from Our Blessed Mother when she had Her apparition in the Shrine of Velankanni, Tamil Nadu on November 2nd, 1996. This miraculous Rosary has special sweet fragrance. From 1996 to 2002 Rani John received 51 messages from Our Lord and Our Lady for the whole world. Some of the major mystical and miraculous visible experiences of Rani John I have witnessed are the following:

  1. I celebrated the Holy Eucharist in her parish the Good Shepherd church at Kanchikode on November 2nd, 1997. When Rani John received Holy communion from me on her tongue it became visible red living flesh and blood. The Parish Priest of Kanchikode, Rev. Fr. Joseph Pulavelil is an eye witness of it.
  2. I have witnessed a number of times Rani John’s miraculous mystical experience of receiving the Holy Communion from Jesus Himself.
  3. I am an eye witness of Rani John’s experience of stigmata a number of times especially during the Marian retreats and other times. Many people have witnessed this event. A few times I was able to take the video of the same.
  4. I witnessed the experience of the flow of fragrant oil from the picture of Our Lady of Guadalupe enthroned in her house on January 9th, 2000. I was also able to take the video of the same.
  5. During moments of Prayer, milk and honey were poured into the palm of Rani John’s hand by Our Blessed Mother. Milk and honey are the signs of the maternal care of Our Lady. These experiences took place more than seventy times. I witnessed this experience a number of times.
  6. On November 2nd, 2001, Our Blessed Mother gave her a special message to get the picture of the Virgin Mary painted giving due importance to the Holy Eucharist and the Holy Rosary. The core of the message is that the head of the serpent can be crushed by two divine weapons namely, the devotion to the Holy Eucharist and by the recitation of the Holy Rosary. I got the painting of this picture of Our Lady of Kanchikode completed in the year of the Eucharist on October 9th, 2004.
  7. The ministry at Kanchikode slowly evolved into a ministry of Marian retreat. I have conducted 36 Marian retreats in the pastoral centre “Yuvakshetra” of the diocese of Palakkad. Four Bishops, more than 500 priests, over 1500 religious and over 10,000 lay people have taken part in these Marian retreats. During these retreats, Rani John animated the retreatants on the messages of Our Lady of Kanchikode.
  8. During these retreats, while Rani John was at prayer in the chapel before the Blessed Sacrament, she has had a number of times the stigmata experience. These were witnessed by all the retreatants including the Bishop of Satna, Rev. Dr. Mathew Vaniakizhakel V.C. and many Priests and Sisters.
  9. I have written a book entitled “Panchashathangal” and I have mentioned at length many of my experiences of Our Lady of Kanchikode and the mystical experiences of Rani John. The above book and the video of the stigmata experience and other miraculous experiences at Kanchikode under the title “Signs from God” are also available.

A deeper study on the 51 messages of Our Lady of Kanchikode enables us to understand the fifteen different titles given to Our Heavenly Mother. These different titles of Mary Our Mother will help us to know her unique role in the Church. The following are her different titles found in these 51 messages.

  1. The Virgin of Revelations
  2. Mother without sin
  3. Bride of the Holy Spirit
  4. Mother of the entire Human race
  5. Mother, the epitome of perfect beauty
  6. Queen of the Holy Rosary
  7. Mother, the symbol of Hope
  8. Mother incarnated as the Queen of the universe
  9. Mother of the Divine Word
  10. Mother of Adoration
  11. Mother of the Acts of Reparation
  12. Mother of Jesus’ second coming
  13. Heavenly Mother, clad in the sun
  14. Mother who helps us to be born in the Spirit
  15. Mother of the Holy Eucharist

The Holy Father Pope John Paul II promulgated the Luminous mysteries and the teachings on the Eucharist in October 2002. If we study the message of January 1st, 2002, we can note that even before the Holy Father promulgated the luminous mysteries and the teachings on the Eucharist in October 2002, there are clear references to these in the messages given to Rani John on January 1st, 2002. Pope John Paul II brought out the encyclical on “Church and the Eucharist” on April 17th, 2003. In this he speaks of Our Blessed Mother as the Lady of the Eucharist. There are clear references to this encyclical in the messages given to Rani John by our Lady on the following dates: June 30th, 1997, December 24th, 1997, November 2nd, 2001 and January 1st, 2002. In the message given on November 2nd, 2001 Our Lady is referred as the “Mother of the Eucharist”.

A detailed study and reflection on the 51 messages make us understand that prayer, penance and reparation are the sum and substance of these messages. The core of these messages consists of five divine weapons in order to attain salvation of souls. They are

  1. The Holy Eucharist,
  2. The sacrament of confession,
  3. The Holy Rosary,
  4. Fasting and
  5. The Word of God.

Rani John has written a foreword to this book explaining her mystical experiences. With this background I request you to reflect and study these 51 Heavenly Messages given from above. It is very clear that the 51 messages are meant for the whole world. I am glad that these messages are translated into English. I thank Fr. Joe Kallupura SDB, the principal of Don Bosco HSS Mannuthy, Prof. Paulson Chalissery, the principal of Don Bosco College, Mannuthy and others who helped in this translation work. May this book “Messages of Our Lady of Kanchikode” inspire many to become Marian devotees. I request you to pray for the ministry of Our Lady of Kanchikode.
